COMMERCIAL PROPERTY STRATEGY
Detroit, MI | 2020

Council Woman Raquel Castaneda-Lopez’s office and the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation engaged &Access to create a strategy to decrease vacancy in commercial properties along Michigan Ave. The study area starts at the I-96/I-75 interchange and this corridor extends 3.6 miles to the Dearborn city limits, including about ¼ mile to the north and south of Michigan Ave. &Access have engaged organizational and property-owning stakeholders and the residential population through interviews, surveys, and community meetings to refine our perspective of the corridor’s existing conditions, challenges, and opportunities. These groups echoed joint lament toward the lack of targeted spending along this corridor in comparison to the spending taking place in the adjacent downtown neighborhoods. &Access developed a detailed strategy outlining how and where to target new development, redevelopment, and renovation efforts to maximize near-term, long-term, and on-going opportunities.
